Orange Country Choppers invades Ireland|Orange Country Choppers w Irelandii

Last Sunday during waking in Jervis Shopping Centre in Dublin I saw The Orange Country Choppers logos. People were making photos with three fantastic choppers. It was a really nice to see them in the real world, not only in TV. Unfortunately none of the stars were present, but anyway that was pretty exciting experience.

There were also some T-Shirts with their logo for everyone to buy.

‘Katyń’ in the JAMESON Dublin International Film Festival

February 17th, 2008
'Katyń' in the JAMESON Dublin International Film Festival|'Katyń' na JAMESON Dublin International Film Festival

Yesterday I had a pleasure to see polish film for the first time outside Poland. It was “Katyń” directed by Andrzej Wajda at The JAMESON Dublin International Film Festival.

This film was so popular, that had to be played twice.

Just before the movie there was a meeting with actress Danuta Stenka, who played wife of a general. After the film actress read a letter from the director Andrzej Wajda, and later on there was an exiting discussion about it.

The atmosphere was really hot. There were Irish people, who during the discussion were convincing to let go the past and think about our future.

Croagh Patrick

Croagh Patrick|Croagh Patrick

Croagh Patrick is an important site of pilgrimage. It is a 764 m (2,510 ft) mountain in the west of Ireland, located 8 km from Westport, County Mayo above the villages of Murrisk and Lecanvey.

On “Reek Sunday”, the last Sunday in July every year, over 25 thousand pilgrims climb this mountain, many of whom even climb barefoot. The mountain was created by a glacier flowing into Clew Bay in the last Ice Age.

Croagh Patrick derives its name from the Irish Cruach Phádraig (”Saint Patrick’s mountain”). Locally is known as the Reek. In the Annals of Ulster entry for the year 1113, the mountain is named Cruachán Aigle (”eagle mountain”).

Ireland’s National Marian Shrine in Knock

Ireland's National Marian Shrine in Knock|Sanktuarium Maryjne w Knock

On the 21st August 1879 Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist appeared at the south gable of Knock Parish Church. Fifteen people witnessed that miracle. That was the first time when the world heard about this sacred place and form then on Knock is an internationally recognized Marian Shrine.

Pope John Paul II in 1979 visited of this Marian Shrine. Also in June of 1993 Mother Teresa of Calcutta visited the this place. Over one and a half million pilgrims visit the Shrine every year.

I have been there twice so far and I want to encourage others to visit that special place in Ireland.
